Microsoft has done it! They have finally released a good web browser WHOOO!!!

Now before you think I’m having you on, I’m honestly not. Microsoft has released the new version of the Edge web browser and it’s built on chromium, the same technology behind Googles Chrome browser.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”4773″ img_size=”full” css=”.vc_custom_1580143491658{padding-top: 15px !important;padding-bottom: 15px !important;}”][vc_column_text]Today we are going to take a look at the new browser and see how it compares to the much loved Google Chrome as well as the performance impacts on your PC, the security settings and the overall user experience.

I want to start by saying that if you’re a user of the old Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome, installing and switching to the new browser is virtually painless.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1580143696174{padding-top: 25px !important;}”]User Experience

Edge 2.0 (as I call it) has a very sleek and familiar layout, its practically identical to Google Chrome. However, Microsoft has put its spin on the design and layout of the browser. Edge 2.0 allows users greater customisation that Google Chrome, Microsoft has also changed the layout and design of the settings sections and personally I think they are much easier and cleaner than what Google has done with Chrome.

Another key feature is that Microsoft has kept the Bookmarks bar in the same location as Chrome. This is a great move by Microsoft as it helps users coming from Chrome adapt to the new browser through the use of familiarity.

Another key feature of Edge 2.0 is the customisation of the home screen. Edge 2.0 allows the user to easily customise the look and functionality of the home screen at the click of a button. On the home screen, there is a conveniently located settings button that allows you to choose between 2 categories (Microsoft News, Office 365), each category has 3 layout options (Focused, Inspirational, Informational), these layouts can be changed and customised to show information like your Office 365 documents, latest news or just a pretty picture that changes daily.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”4771″ img_size=”full” css=”.vc_custom_1580143989026{padding-top: 15px !important;padding-bottom: 5px !important;}”][vc_column_text]Focus view – Light mode[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”4770″ img_size=”full” css=”.vc_custom_1580143982754{padding-top: 15px !important;padding-bottom: 5px !important;}”][vc_column_text]Informational view – Dark mode[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
